From the Music Minister…

It’s February! At last; it seemed that January would never end. Many of us are finding this winter especially interminable. ‘Days of darkness still may meet me’ says the hymn writer; how true. Yet music has the power not only to express but also elevate the winter blues. I have often found listening to music to be a balm for my own soul. Can I suggest that you go and find yourself a playlist of your own? Style doesn’t matter. Bach, Blues or Broadway; Jazz or Joplin; symphonies or spirituals. Bob Dylan’s back catalogue, or choral music from the Baltic States. Explore the genres and look for music that stirs you, moves you, and gets your feet tapping. ‘The heavens declare the glory of God’. True of the heavens, but also true of the arts. Music and art bear the fingerprints of the beauty of God, beauty that our hearts were made for. So as we plod on through another winter, why not go and dust creation for those beautiful fingerprints. Your soul will be better for it.

George Parsons.

Pray for Ben and the team going to Broomcroft care home for their monthly communion service on Thursday.

Mission Prayers: The Ministry of Milan and Shusma in Nepal

Please pray for the official registration process with the local government for the elderly care (new programme), young women’s hostel, and day care programmes. May the process go smoothly and efficiently, enabling them to continue their work. There is an election early in March, very important given the recent political tensions.

Also, we pray for the church planting programme led by Milan with their vision of 40 new churches by 2033. Together with his team, he has now helped plant 21 churches and has hosted discipleship and leadership trainings that have benefited dozens of new believers and leaders last year. One of these leaders has planted an Aanandit Church in Western Nepal recently.
